Saint Patrick's Day

RESTIN' UP FOR SAINT PATRICK'S DAY

I'm not entirely sure what our hooman has planned for Saint Patrick's Day. But, I want to be ready so I'll start restin' up right here, right now. Then, before she wakes up, I move up the stairs, jump on her bed, curl up & go back to sleep. Then, when she wakes up, I'm the first feline she sees! I go into my purr mode immediately. Can't help it.

CHECK THIS OUT

Don't mean to turn my back on you but I wanted you to see my new collar. It has shamrocks on it -- our hooman says she saw it, thought about my green eyes & knew she had to get it for me, her fav feline. Well, I am. Inkee-Bear says I'm NOT her fav -- it's just that I'm the baby/youngest of our pack so she has to look out for me. But I can take care of myself if you know what I mean.

GRREEEN, GRREEEN EVERYWHERE!

They do what on Saint Patrick's Day? They drink green beer? They turn a river green?  Nah -- & if you believe that - well, you get my drift. Everyone wears green? Why? So they don't get pinched? Yikes. Well, I won't get pinched. I have green eyes -- all us Maus have green eyes. Oh, my new collar has green on it -- as a matter of fact, it has shamrocks on it.

SHAMROCKS & CLOVER

All Spirit thinks about is partying or, as he puts it -- purr-dee-ing.  On the more serious side, see the three leaf plant on our plates? That's a shamrock. The word 'shamrock' comes from the Irish word for 'young clover.' The Druids believed that a three-leaf clover would enable them to see evil spirits & escape in time.

GOING GREEN?

In our house, we're  'going green' on March 17!  Are you? It's Saint Patrick's Day!  An Irish Holiday!  We like Holidays. As you can see, our hooman has Saint Patrick Day plates & napkins. We're ready to party or, as we cats pronounce it, purr-dee!

MISSED GOING GREEN!

Did we miss St Pat’s Day? Oh, oh. We were supposed to find a green hat for our St Pat’s Day pics but we couldn’t find one. But we watched TV while they dyed the Chicago river as green as my harness. The dye is powdered & vegetable-based.The exact formula is as secret as a leprechaun telling where he hid his gold.

SAINT PATRICK'S DAY FACTOIDS

Saint Patrick's Day, March 17, honors Saint Patrick and celebrates ALL things Irish.  Saint Patrick is a Patron Saint of Ireland from the 5th Century.  He is considered the founder of Christianity in Ireland converting a society believing in more than one god. March 17 is the date of his death. Click on the title above to learn about: shamrocks, leprechauns, pots of gold and why we pinch someone not wearing green.

- Re the Shamrock:  Saint Patrick taught the Irish about the doctrine of the Holy Trinity via the Shamrock, a 3-leafed plant, to illustrate the teaching of 3 persons in one God:  the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY!

Can't pinch me, I'm wearin' green. See? No one's ever seen a leprechaun? They're guys? They're smaller than small, have red beards, make & mend shoes & wear green hats and coats? That's easy-peasy. If I can't find one, I know who can. Sophee, Gracee or that team of geniuses on the TV show, 'Scorpion.' They'll find one.
