SOPHEE: I told you last year -- my ears hate hats. What kinda' hat is this anyway? HER HOOMAN: I'm not asking you to wear it; just pose with it. To answer your question, 'Sombrero' is Spanish for 'shadower.' It is a wide-brimmed hat from Mexico used to shield from the sun. The brim is broad enough to cast a shadow over the head, neck & shoulders of the wearer & slightly upturned at the edge. Usually there is a chin string to hold it in place. It is worn by 'traditional horsemen' of Mexico.
