A cat tree as defined by Wikipedia is an artificial structure for a cat to play, exercise and relax on…or in.  The Cat Authors use their trees for playing (chasing) and sleeping. They frequently compete for the top platform.  Cat trees are also referred to as cat tree houses, cat condos, kitty condos or cat stands.

Cat trees vary in height, width and shape; they can be large, small, modern or ordinary.  They can span a wall and/or reach from floor to ceiling.  They are usually constructed of wood or plastic and covered with carpeting or a similar fabric (sisal) that encourages a cat to scratch.  There are usually several levels or platforms that aid the cat in climbing to the top as well as levels that are enclosed so a cat can hide or sleep.  The Cat Authors love their cat trees!  You can see pictures of them in their cat trees and a video of them ‘catching a nap’ known as a cat nap.
