Yep. I'm serious. August 8 is International Cat Day! Meowmuh said so. It's to celebrate ALL cats in every country; in the entire, humungous, gy-normous world; in the whole universe; in the entire solar system!  Surely there's cats on other planets.  If they think there's hoomans on other planets, there have to be cats too. Right? Just think about it. Maybe cats even have their very own planet!!  A cat world!!  Think about THAT!

What did Inkee-Bear say? A day for us? For cats? For felines? So, what does it mean for ME? For one thing, I have a furr-ever home. Even though my siblings can be 'disturbing' -- I/we have a home. We're fed &, even when we're bad, we're loved. Meowmuh says that 3.4 million cats enter shelters each year --just in the US. About 1.4 million will be euthanized. Wait, what does euthanized mean? Meowmuh won't say but she does say: neuter, spay, love your cat & don't declaw!!

National Cat Day? No? International Cat Day? What's that? When's that? On August 8 every year? Meowmuh says there's lots of ways to celebrate International Cat Day -- also called World Cat Day. You can volunteer at a shelter, you can visit a Cat Cafe, you can donate to a Cat Charity, adopt a stray cat, buy some cat toys/merchandise, dress up as a cat or -- bestest yet, give your own cat/s some love, affection, attention & play-time.

Phew. All this bill paying plum wore me out. Meowmuh too. We need to take a break. It's cool in here but the temp is in triple digits just outside that window. Yikes. Meowmuh has the right idea.  Hydrate, drink that H2O. Meowmuh keeps her faithful Fiji water bottle right at hand. Don't forget:  HYDRATE! And to you 2 & 4 legged critters, don't leave us outside. It's too hot!

OK, Meowmuh. Let's get this done. You got the bank account balanced. Good-o. Now the bills. Gotta' pay those bills. Lemme' help. The first bill you gotta' pay is to renew Catster -- my fav magazine. I'll help with the Thank-you notes and I can write checks for you. Yes, I can, I can do that.

We don't like to pay bills. No, siree. Meowmuh in particular. So, I told her I'd help her.  But first I have to take a good look out the window to make sure there are no intruders out there. Meowmuh was gone for a LONG time!  Over 11 days in Colorado. So she's got a lotta' bills to pay if you get my drift.

Testy kitten Annie wrestles with sibling Lucy in a play-fight.  This wily kitten doesn't back off or give up.  Watch her smooth move as she deploys her newest technique -- backing into the 'enemy.'  In less than 15 minutes, they are snuggled together. Yes, doggie Lucy has joined her new kitten sibling in, what is commonly known as, a 'catnap'.

Watch Aunt Laurel's creative kitten as she rolls & flips after her 'ghost' toy.  She's got it, no she doesn't; yes she does, no she doesn't.  Little Annie's imagination is TOTALLY in charge!

New kitten Annie's murderous, predatory skills are on display as she attacks her fav toy -- the pink mouse. Watch to the end when she scores a 10 for a perfectly executed forward roll.

Watch Aunt Laurel's new kitten, Annie, pursue her doggie-sibling's tail.  Annie is focused & dedicated to catching  that tail!  Persistence pays off.  She catches it several times until, CLAMITY STRIKES!  Her new sibling's stiff tail bops her in the whiskers!  She sits and collects her thoughts for a moment--but just for a moment.

Meet Annie. Isn't she cute? I like kittens. I took care of Sophee & Spirit when they were little kittens.  I groomed them, let them grab my tail, jump on me & take naps with me. Annie's a rescue from the East San Fernando Valley Shelter where our Aunt Laurel is fostering kittens. But Annie has her fur-ever home now with our Aunt Laurel & Lucy, the inimitable dachshund.  

Have you heard of 'quiet fireworks?' I hadn’t. In parts of Europe, animal lovers, the very young & the elderly don't like bangs, screeches or whistles but still want to enjoy the fun that only fireworks can bring. More cats & dogs end up permanently missing from their families as a result of fireworks—like around July 4. To all 4-legged critters, stay inside at least on July 4!

Spirit:  I'm warnin' all you 2 & 4-legged critters out there. There's a real bad day comin' up--the 4 of somethin' or other. There's loud bangs and booms. They're so loud it made my ears twirl & my whiskers curl--and that's bad, real bad. Meowmuh helped us with music and calming spray. Know the most important thing?  She stayed home with us. We hated the noise but she was there. Have a safe 4th of whatever it is. Inkee:  Happy 4th of July!

Spirit:  Come back here, Inkee. I've been thinking. Inkee: Miracles never cease. Spirit: We did the 4 thing before. Inkee: Yep.  Spirit:  I was scared.  Inkee:  Yes, you were. Meowmuh turned the music on loud & she sprayed Feliway to keep us calm. Spirit:  I told Meowmuh to stop the booms.  Inkee:  Yes, you did.  Spirit:  She didn't. Inkee:  Sigh. There's only so much a Meowmuh can do.

Spirit: Meowmuh's talkin' 'bout 4. The 4 of us? Inkee:  Nope. Spirit:  There's 4 cat trees; I counted. Inkee: Glad you can count. Spirit:  Well, what then?  Inkee:  The 4th of July.  Spirit: What's that?  Inkee: Independence Day.  Spirit: I'm independent. Inkee: AND stubborn. Spirit:  Every day is independence day for me. Inkee:  True enough. Sigh.

OK, OK.  So this kitten looks something like me. So what?  Meowmuh didn't have to get quite so 'over-the-top' talking with him.  Just listen to her.  She tells him he's precious.  Precious?  Bah. Humbug. Actually, she does tell us that we're  precious AND special.  And, we are.  Everyone that knows us knows that!

Meowmuh isn't sure about the breed of this cat.  It is waiting so patiently to be judged.  It didn't mind having it's pic taken -- even struck a pose for the pic. This is Meowmuh's first cat show so she was fascinated.  We told her not to ask about any new kittens. Did I/we want her to bring any more cats home?  NO, NO, NO.

Yikes. This sorta' big guy is a Maine Coon. Is he bigger than me?  Dunno.' They are supposed to be a super breed. They have a thick coat with a big tail to wrap around themselves to keep warm in winter.  Are they happy in say, Southern CA?  Yep.  Meowmuh's friend, Lynne, had a Maine Coon named Merlin and he was very happy -- and handsome.  Am I jealous?  Nope.  Meowmuh always says how handsome I am.
