We're exhausted. We've been taking down our Christmas decorations all day. Kind of sad. All the Santas, the deer, the angels, the elves, they're all getting packed away in baggies, bags, & plastic bins. This festive Christmas throw covered our big recliner. But now it's time to get it washed & put away with all the other things for next Christmas. It was on it's way to the laundry room but got tossed here. We spotted it right away -- so soft & comfy, know what we mean? No cat in his right mind would pass up a purrfect catnap spot like this! 

You should see the action around this house at Christmas time! It can be exhausting, if you get my drift. Big boxes with paper & stuff in 'em. Meowmuh takes stuff out, puts the stuff here & there. Me? I investigate the boxes, watch blinking lights, chase ornaments, pounce on garlands, listen to strange sounds -- Meowmuh says it's music, you know, Christmas carols. Plus that, there's always good smells even if we can't eat what's cookin' n bakin.'  MERRY CHRISTMAS 2 U FROM ALL OF US!!

Inkee-Bear: "We're waitin' for Santa. Sleep? Did you say sleep? Tonight? The night before Christmas?  I keep tellin' Spirit. We have to be patient. But Spirit is--well, you probably already figured it out."  Spirit:  What? I'm patient -- most of the time. So what if I jump at every little noise? I'm what you call high-strung. You can be high-strung & patient at the same time!" Inkee-Bear:  "Yeah, right!  Merry Christmas to all & to all a good night!" 

I have a question, a VERY important question!  So, please think very carefully before you answer because this is the most important question ever, I mean ever. So take your time. This Santa thing, you know, keeping a list & checking it twice? -- well just how good does a critter have to be to be on Santa's good & nice list? 

This is clearly the right box for me. My name could just as well be 'Priority" as Spirit because everyone knows I'm a priority in our house -- all day, all night, every day. A priority. I'll ask if I can change my name to Spirit Priority instead of just Spirit. Reckon I'll just keep this box furr-ever.

I can help decorate!  Trust me. I'm a good decorator. Please?!!  I'll string garlands, lights. Whatever you want. What?  OK. OK. So I'm better at unstringing. So what? Can't hold that against a critter, can you?

We let him stay cause he passed the sniff test. What we didn't know is that he makes noise. Meowmuh says it's music --Christmas carols. Can you believe that?  

A Snowman? In California?  Gotta' investigate this! We, as dedicated members of the "Sniff Patrol," actively investigate any anomaly or mysterious thing that enters our house. We certainly don't need investigation training cause sniffing is what we do! It's a skill we're born with, a real talent &, we'll thoroughly investigate this one, furr shure!

Ahhh. Yep, this has been a long day. I think I finally found a position that I can sleep in on Meowmuh's bed.  Guess what? I showed all of them!  Even with this cone on, I proved that I could navigate, eat, run on the exercise wheel, climb to the top of the cat tree & now, I'm gonna' sleep.  If that isn't 'spirit,' I don't know what is. Sweet dreams!  

How do you get to sleep with this stupid cone on? I'm tryin' -- I'm tryin.'  Meowmuh, can't you take this thing off?  Puh-leeeze?!  No? Not until it heals? Sigh. Maybe I'll try her bed upstairs.

Spirit:  "I got up here with my cone on!"  Inkee-Bear:  "What IS around his neck?"  Sophee:  "I don't know. Better him than me!"  Inkee-Bear:  "You're so right! Wonder if it has to do with that mosquito bite?"  Sophee:  "I bet it does. Well, he loves to go outside in his stroller & that's where the mosquitos are."  Spirit:  "They're all wonderin' why I have this cone on & why I had to show them that this cone couldn't hinder me. But Meowmuh knows. That's why she named me Spirit!

See? Told you I could do it. I can run on my exercise wheel even with this cone on.  Oops. Meowmuh said:  "Ouch!" But it didn't hurt me. You didn't see me yelpin,' cryin' or stoppin.'  No sireee. I love my exercise wheel. Meowmuh said she got it particularly for me because I have so much energy. That's me. I play hard, sleep hard & eat hardy. Meowmuh feels it's too soon to be runnin' because we just got back from the vet 30 minutes ago. What's too soon? 

I'm gonna' prove that I can do anything with this cone on.  I can run on this exercise wheel. Yes I can. Just watch. So what if I couldn't jump into the stroller. I'll figure it out & jump in there later today. If not today, tomorrow. There's not a cone in the world that can stop me from doing what I can do without the cone. Besides, running on the exercise wheel is totally my fav thing. Sophee & Gracee run on it too but it's MY wheel, if you know what I mean. 

I've measured & measured & measured. Don't think I can get up in there right now. But, trust me, I will jump into my stroller. I can do it. I will do it. I can do anything I set my mind to. My sibs know it, Meowmuh knows it & I bet you do too. 

I'm still measuring. I'm just not sure I can jump in there with this stupid cone on cause it's hard to see what I need to see. I think I'll just wait until later but I'll figure it out before the end of the day. It's my fav spot to watch Meowmuh fix our food. And while she's fixin', I'm talkin.' Between you & me? She'd probably appreciate some peace & quiet but I am like I am & she loves me anyway.

I want to be in my stroller. It's my fav place. Let me see. I'll measure. You may not know it, but we cats frequently stand up to 'measure' before we jump on or into something new. Jumping into the stroller with this cone on is a problem but I'll figure it out. If not today, tomorrow.

I figured this one out. I can eat from my bowl! The bowl is small enough that the cone sorta' fits aroud it. I'm starved. Going to the vet would make any critter hungry! My hooman is relieved & impressed that I can eat with this cone thing on. I'll show her & my sibs -- I can do anything -- cone or no cone.

I'm trying to just walk but things keep getting in the way of this stupid thing around my neck -- this thing called a cone. It stops me in my tracks. Why?!!  Meowmuh says it's because the cone covers my whiskers. When I don't have a cone on, little air currents in the room vibrate my whiskers just enough to tell me where everything is -- the air currents change around furniture/objects. That's why a blind cat navigates without bumping into things --as long as he has his whiskers free.  (Never trim our whiskers!)
