THEY'RE LOOKIN' FUR WHAT?
by Inkee-Bear, Spirit on Apr 20 2019 Add Comment

INKEE-BEAR:  Do you hear it? SPIRIT: Hear what?  INKEE-BEAR:  You dummy. Something is on our roof. it's not walkin' -- it's hoppin!  SPIRIT:  Well, truth be told,  I can't hear a thing except baby birds chirping their little beaks off in the eaves outside our front door. They don't stop until the sun goes down! Drivin' me crazy! INKEE-BEAR: I so agree. How can those itty-bitty things make so much noise?  SPIRIT: If that was the Easter Bunny, he's long gone. The baby peeps sent him on his way.

SPIRIT HAS A QUESTION FOR HIS HOOMAN
by Spirit on Apr 20 2019 Add Comment

I want you to be honest with me, hooman. Is there really an Easter Bunny? A Hippity-Hoppity Bunny? No foolin' around now. I get asked this question every Easter &, once & for all, I want the answer, the truth -- know what I mean? The neighbor has 2 cats & one bunny. Sometimes the bunny gets out the cat door & they race around our yard. That silly all-white bunny is bigger than the cat!! And faster!  The bunny chases the cat, then the cat chases the bunny. But is there an EASTER Bunny? I just gotta' know!!

SPIRIT'S SNIFFING IS CALLED _________?
by Spirit on Apr 20 2019 Add Comment

Yep.You caught me, rather my hooman caught me. I'm checking Mr. Gray out. Is he furr real? I have a tiny, cigar-shaped organ in the roof of my mouth behind my front teeth called "Jacobson's organ." I open my mouth, breathe the scent in from whatever I'm investigating. It's officially called the 'Flehmen response.'  It's also called stinky face, silly face, funny face. Big cats & horses fur shure do the same. Gotta' curl that upper lip to pull in a good whiff.  Now I know, Mr. Gray furr shure isn't real.

AN EASTER BUNNY CUDDLE
by Sophee on Apr 20 2019 Add Comment

Easter? Well, it's not every day that I get to cuddle with an Easter Bunny like Mr. Gray here. Did you check out his whiskers? Good grief. At least they're soft. And those ears -- they're too big! Glad my ears aren't that big. Bet he gets a crick in his neck from hoppin' with those humungous, gynormous ears. Maybe they're really antennas. But he's quiet & cushy soft so I'm just gonna' nestle in here and take a wee bit of a catnap if that's ok with you. Happy Easter.

TIME TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL SIBLINGS' DAY!
by Gracee, Sophee on Apr 10 2019 Add Comment

SOPHEE:  Gracee, what are you looking for? GRACEE:  More siblings. SOPHEE:  Why? Sometimes you act like you don't like the ones you have!  GRACEE:  That's precisely why I'm looking! I want a little brother that stays little. SOPHEE:  Little cats always get big & guy cats are always bigger than girl cats. We're girls so we're little -- like our mom, Red Lola.  So, let's celebrate the siblings we do have on National Siblings' Day.  GRACEE:  You can celebrate. I'm gonna' look.

WHAT'S NATIONAL SIBLINGS DAY?
by Inkee-Bear, Sophee on Apr 10 2019 Add Comment

INKEE-BEAR:  Exactly what is National Siblings' Day?  I like to paw-tee but I gotta' know fur what!  SOPHEE:  I know what it is. It's the day when we celebrate being together, in our house, with our hooman. It's who we play with, who we cuddle with, who we don't play with, who we can't cuddle with. Understand?  INKEE-BEAR:  I get it. But did you know that you & I have the same Dad?  His name is Kool Kat.  SOPHEE:  I knew that. It's cool to have a dad named Kool cause we are, afterall, cool - if you know what I mean.

Here it is -- in all it's glory! Our first Award just for being 'us' in our very own home -- sharing our daily thoughts & doings --including our catnaps.  We -- all of us (including our hooman of course) -- send the loudest PURRS & the biggest YOWLS of THANKS to the Cat Writers' Assocation!

SOPHEE'S AWARD INSPECTION
by Sophee on Mar 30 2019 Add Comment

What's this? An award? For us? The Cat Authors? -- & our hooman?  Yowl!  Time for a pawsome celebration! We tell our hooman what we think. Sometimes we show her what we do -- dopey or serious -- & she puts it on our blog. Congrats too to all the other 'Certificate of Excellence' winners!  The Cat Writers' Association is our home where we're mentored, where we learn & where we meet other like-minded critters -- big & small.

NOW WHAT?
by Gracee on Mar 29 2019 Add Comment

Picture time? Photo opportunity? Seriously? I'm starving -- anyone can see that -- & you, my unfavorite-hooman-at-this-very-moment, persist in taking my picture? Have I not trained you properly? When it's time to eat, it's time to eat!! I don't care if my siblings are waiting for their dinner where our food bowls are -- in the kitchen -- on the FLOOR I might add.  I wish to eat here -- at the dining room table! Now!  I don't care if you say I'm so cute or that you love me. Think food!

HOOMAN, HAVE YOU NOTICED?

Hooman, haven’t you noticed? T'is dinner time. I’m waiting, I’ve been waiting. How long must I wait? I mean , really. Can you believe this?

SPIRIT'S GETTIN' READY
by Spirit on Mar 23 2019 Add Comment

OK.  It worked. Told ya' it'd work.  My hooman says we can go outside now. But I have to be either in our secured stroller or on a leash & wear this harness thing. But I don't want to be seen in this flowery, hoody getup. How embarrassing. If I gotta' wear something, then at least get me something that expresses me, the REAL me -- something more manly if you get my drift. Do I have to 'splain everything to my hooman?

SPIRIT SULKS
by Spirit on Mar 23 2019 Add Comment

I'm watchin' my hooman from our loft. I told her that I want to go outside!  She said no -- she's busy -- hoomans say things like that. So, I wanna' see just how busy she really is!  Know what I mean? So, I'm watchin' & puttin' on my best 'sad sack' face -- it works sometimes. The object is to make her feel bad, real bad -- & guilty. I'm sure I can do it. I've done it before. Besides, it's worth a try, right?

RESTIN' UP FOR SAINT PATRICK'S DAY
by Inkee-Bear on Mar 16 2019 Add Comment

I'm not entirely sure what our hooman has planned for Saint Patrick's Day. But, I want to be ready so I'll start restin' up right here, right now. Then, before she wakes up, I move up the stairs, jump on her bed, curl up & go back to sleep. Then, when she wakes up, I'm the first feline she sees! I go into my purr mode immediately. Can't help it. And, if she could purr, she would be so happy to see me, she'd purr. Yes, there are other cats on the bed -- Spirit & sometimes the girls. Have a Happy Patrick's Day!!

CHECK THIS OUT

Don't mean to turn my back on you but I wanted you to see my new collar. It has shamrocks on it -- our hooman says she saw it, thought about my green eyes & knew she had to get it for me, her fav feline. Well, I am. Inkee-Bear says I'm NOT her fav -- it's just that I'm the baby/youngest of our pack so she has to look out for me. But I can take care of myself if you know what I mean. Anyway, the Shamrock has been a symbol of Ireland since the 18th Century.

GRREEEN, GRREEEN EVERYWHERE!
by Spirit on Mar 16 2019 Add Comment

They do what on Saint Patrick's Day? They drink green beer? They turn a river green?  Nah -- & if you believe that - well, you get my drift. Everyone wears green? Why? So they don't get pinched? Yikes. Well, I won't get pinched. I have green eyes -- all us Maus have green eyes. Oh, my new collar has green on it -- as a matter of fact, it has shamrocks on it. So, if what Inkee-Bear says is true --that shamrocks bring luck -- then I'm one lucky feline!

SHAMROCKS & CLOVER
by Inkee-Bear on Mar 16 2019 Add Comment

All Spirit thinks about is partying or, as he puts it -- purr-dee-ing.  On the more serious side, see the three leaf plant on our plates? That's a shamrock. The word 'shamrock' comes from the Irish word for 'young clover.' The Druids believed that a three-leaf clover would enable them to see evil spirits & escape in time.  A 4-leaf clover warded off bad luck & offered magical protection. The odds of finding a 4-leaf clover? It's 10,000 to 1. Let us know if you find one!

GOING GREEN?
by Spirit on Mar 16 2019 Add Comment

In our house, we're  'going green' on March 17!  Are you? It's Saint Patrick's Day!  An Irish Holiday!  We like Holidays. As you can see, our hooman has Saint Patrick Day plates & napkins. We're ready to party or, as we cats pronounce it, purr-dee!

NATIONAL NAPPING DAY — MONDAY MARCH 11
by Inkee-Bear on Mar 10 2019 Add Comment

Today — Monday, March 11 is NATIONAL NAPPING DAY!! Did you know that? It’s always the day AFTER the return of Daylight Savings. It’s to compensate for that lost hour. Daylight Savings is a hooman thing but it suits us purrfectly cause napping is what we cats do the most — the best. When we’re awake, we race, chase, climb, jump, pounce, play, meowl  — then we eat &, you guessed it, we nap! Be sure & snag your nap today — after all, it’s legal cause it’s officially National Napping Day!
