Is this fun or what? I'm on the other side of the 'thing' now. I guess I'm on the 'inside.' It's a lot dryer than the other side. Our hooman takes it with her whenever it rains or whenever she thinks it's going to rain. She says she has an App to tell her if it's going to rain. Remarkable, huh? Well, it rained. The other side is totally, I mean, completely wet. Me? I prefer this side, the dry side. But I love it when the parasol is out -- so I purr for rain.

Know what? I LOVE rainy days. Know why? Cause our hooman puts this thing on our stair landing -- but she only leaves it there for awhile. So you have to investigate right away. That's what we cats are good at -- Investigating! Now watch. You have to move slowly & carefully cause sometimes it rolls. Also, one of my crazy siblings might be on the other side so you have to check it all out first. I'm taking a peek right now. It looks--clear.

Oops. Our hooman was ready to take the trash out but she got this phone call and, well -- you can see what happened. I didn't do it. It was the girls. They don't always see whisker-to-whisker but when it comes to getting into things, they're a real team. But our hooman will take care of this just like she cleans up our spit ups, brushes us, cleans our litter boxes, feeds us, talks to us, plays with us, takes us to the vet -- you know -- she does what moms do. We appreciate Moms -- all of 'em!

Yummm. No time for meows or yowls now. Too busy chowin' down if you know what I mean. Oh, yeah. Thanks, Mom. And thanks to all you Moms out there that take care of us critters -- hooman and otherwise. Have a great Mom's day cause you know and we know -- you have earned it!!

Mom, it's time for our mid-day dry food treat! We're waiting. Patiently waiting, I might add. The food cartons are right behind you in the laundry room. And our food bowls are right here -- just in case you didn't notice. We're starrrrr- ving. Know what I mean?

We love it when they deliver the Cat Lady Box. It comes every month. But even more fun than the delivery is when it's opened. This month the box included not just toys for us but this cool T-shirt for our hoooman. She says she'll wear it with pride all day on Mom's Day cause she is our Cat Mom. Happy Mom's Day to all you Moms out there!!

Our hooman googles -- 'looks things up' -- 'researches.' Anyhoo, she wanted to know the 'history' of Pinatas. She discovered Pinatas might have originated in China & were taken to Italy by Marco Polo when he travelled there in the 13th Century. Figures of animals such as cows, oxen or buffaloes were covered with colored paper & ribbons for the Chinese New Year & filled with seeds. The seeds were burned & the ashes were gathered for good luck throughout that year. Who knew?

I don't know about all these celebrations & paw-tees. But treats sound good to me, know what I mean? My hooman said she'd break the Pinata for us but she thinks too many treats aren't healthy. But critters gotta' paw-tee some time! Right? So, I want all you critters out there to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with us. Mexico is our neighbor so we celebrate with them. To be purr-fectly honest, I'm up for celebrating anything, anytime if you get my drift. Enjoy your Margarita but be safe!

SOPHEE: And, pray tell, what is this? HER HOOMAN: It's a Pinata -- in this case, it's a container that looks like a burro. Pinatas are made of papier-mache, pottery, cloth or cardboard -- decorated & filled with small toys, candy or both for parties/celebrations -- like birthdays, New Years, Cinco de Mayo. Then they're broken as part of the celebration & everyone scrambles for the toys/candy. SOPHEE: You mean there would be treats there for me? HER HOOMAN: Theoretically, yes.

SOPHEE: I told you last year -- my ears hate hats. What kinda' hat is this anyway? HER HOOMAN: I'm not asking you to wear it; just pose with it. To answer your question, 'Sombrero' is Spanish for 'shadower.' It is a wide-brimmed hat from Mexico used to shield from the sun. The brim is broad enough to cast a shadow over the head, neck & shoulders of the wearer & slightly upturned at the edge. Usually there is a chin string to hold it in place. It is worn by 'traditional horsemen' of Mexico.

SPIRIT: OK, Mr. Know-It-All Inkee -- what am I sniffing? INKEE: 'Maracas.' SPIRIT: Are they toys for us? INKEE: No, not for us. They're a percusion instrument -- a gourd-shaped container filled with dried beans. SPIRIT: So, what do they do? INKEE: Hoomans hold them in their paws & shake them to the beat of the music. SPIRIT: Who's 'Music' & why do they beat him? INKEE: Good grief. Maybe someone can explain it to him? Please?

SPIRIT: Our hooman says it's "Cinco de Mayo." What does 'cinco' mean? INKEE It means 5. SPIRIT: But there's only 4 of us. INKEE: It isn't how many of us there are. It's the date in May when Cinco de Mayo is celebrated because on May 5, 1862 the Mexican Army defeated the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla under General Ignacio Zaragoza. SPIRIT: Wow! That's a long time ago but, as you know, I'm up for FUN & paw-tees. INKEE: We know, oh, how we know. Sigh.

Bet you didn’t know I was here! I can tell by the look on your face. You’ve been throwin’ paper in here. You didn’t even know I was here until I shuffled the papers underneath me. Then you saw me. SURPRISE!! Got ya’! I love to surprise my hooman & my scaredy cat siblings. I have tons of hiding places. I jump out at ‘em &, before they can say meow, I’m flyin’ outa’ the room. Then the chase is on. I love to play!!

Ha! Hi, Hooman! You just noticed me? I’ve been waitin’ in this trashcan for hours. Waitin’ for you to notice me! What’re you doin’? You’ve been sittin’ in this chair for a really long time starin’ at the screen & typin’ somethin.’ Is it about me? Bet it is. I’m the biggest AND the best cat in this whole house if I do say so myself. I’m worth writing about. But it’s time to take a break, Hooman. You can pet me if you want. Now. Know what I mean? Purrr. Meow.

Easter, sleeper. I do what I do. I don't know about bunnies or hiding Easter eggs or baskets of eggs. What I do know is that Easter Lilies & chocolate are good for hoomans but NOT for us felines! All parts of the lily are poison. No one wants to spend Easter at the Vet's Hospital. So, keep your furr babies safe -- including from that thing everyone drools about -- the Easter feast. Yes, cats drool too. In this house, it's only Inkee-Bear. He thinks he's so smart but he drools when he makes muffins. Don't tell him I told ya.' ...

INKEE-BEAR: So, just cool your jets, Spirit. It's getting late in the day. When the sun starts going away, those itty-bitty peeps settle down. Then we can open the front door again & enjoy the peace & quiet outside. SPIRIT: Cool. So, we can look for lizards & crawlies!? INKEE-BEAR: Yes, little guy. You can look for whatever you want. But you need to stay awake. SPIRIT: I know but my eyes keep closing. I'm just gonna' let them close 'til the sun goes down. Zzzzzzz.
